Welcome Message
Global Science and Shared Action for Controlling Animal TB
Dear Friends and Colleagues,
It is with great pleasure and excitement that we welcome you to Buenos Aires, Argentina, for the 8° International Conference on Mycobacterium bovis: M. bovis 2027.
On behalf of the Scientific and Organizing Committees, we extend our warmest welcome and sincere appreciation for your participation. We are delighted to host the conference in South America for the first time, an important milestone that broadens participation and perspectives within the global M. bovis community.
This conference is a unique forum where science, industry, government, official veterinary services, policymakers, producers, and other key stakeholders will come together around a shared challenge. By connecting research and innovation with policy, field experience, and practical solutions, we can accelerate progress toward more effective and sustainable approaches to animal tuberculosis.
Since the first conference in Dublin in 1991, this event has evolved into a leading international forum for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and innovation. Its continued expansion into new regions reflects the truly global nature of the M. bovis challenge and our commitment to building a more inclusive international network—one that brings together established experts, emerging scientists, practitioners, decision-makers, and the next generation of leaders.
Animal tuberculosis is a complex and far-reaching challenge that cannot be addressed by any one sector or discipline alone. Its control requires collaboration across animal and public health, agriculture, sustainable production, wildlife and ecosystem health, industry, government, and the communities whose livelihoods are affected. The solutions we need will emerge when knowledge, experience, resources, and perspectives come together.
During the conference, you will have the opportunity to explore the latest advances in research and technology, learn from experiences in different regions and production systems, engage with policymakers and industry leaders, and translate scientific knowledge into practical action. We hope the meeting will stimulate new ideas, productive debate, meaningful partnerships, and collaborations that continue long after we leave Buenos Aires.
We encourage every participant to take full advantage of this opportunity—not only to share your work, but also to meet new people, challenge ideas, exchange experiences, build partnerships, and discover new possibilities for collaboration. Whether you are a researcher, veterinarian, policymaker, industry representative, producer, student, or member of an official service, your perspective is essential to addressing this global challenge.
We are confident that M. bovis 2027 will be an inspiring and rewarding experience, both scientifically and personally. Together, by connecting science, innovation, policy, industry, and action, we aim to strengthen the global response to animal tuberculosis and move closer to our shared ambition of controlling and, ultimately, eliminating bovine TB.
Welcome to Buenos Aires!
Welcome to South America!
Welcome to a global and vibrant community working together to write the next chapter in the control and elimination of animal TB.
